Turquoise!!!! Keeping My Eyes On Those Blue, Blue Skies
I’m thrilled to be releasing my first full length album, TURQUOISE, on June 13 and, as everyone who even vaguely knows me knows well … it’s my favorite colour!!! My niece, who adores the title, fails to understand why I didn’t think of doing this earlier (she might have a point) but I honestly believe the timing is right. Turquoise for me is like blue with fire in it – the colour of passion, of sacred flames, of inner illuminated beauty, of happiness – of literally, a sunny sky. It’s the “blues with sunshine in it” as my signature track Turquoise says … but it’s also the kind of colour you have to live to truly appreciate. Turquoise has a deep meaning for me – it’s about overcoming the blues, shrugging off the darkness, learning always to see the glass half full and find the beauty in even the bleakest moment. It’s a state of mind. We use filters all the time on photos and yet it’s so easy to forget that any moment of living requires just a slightly different way of seeing things in order to change it. Keeping that turquoise filter always switched on, bringing a touch of yellow to every “blue” situation, is a surefire way for happiness to find us, no matter how lost we are, and lead the way home.
Turquoise is also about the people I’ve worked with over the years in creating these songs – the songwriters, singers, producers and musicians who have made each track such a special experience. And there’s a couple of lovely surprises tucked away in those 12 songs and 12 shades of Turquoise too … stay tuned to find out WHAT, and maybe even WHO, they are over the next few weeks!!
